NEWBERG --- The George Fox women's volleyball team earned its fourth-straight win with a sweep of NWC rival Linfield on Saturday evening. Fox won 25-22, 25-18, 25-10 to improve to 5-5 in Northwest Conference action.

The Bruins and Wildcats were locked in for a battle in the first set, exchanging points back-and-forth. Linfield led 16-14 before the Bruins used a 4-0 run to take the lead for good. Fox would go on to win five of the final ten points, which was enough to claim the first set. Paige O'Rear had four kills in the first to propel the Bruins. 

Freshman Bailey LeBreton made her presence known in the second set. The middle hitter had five powerful kills and wreaked havoc at the net, breaking up multiple Wildcats attacks. Every play by LeBreton was greeted by deep a "Boooommm!" from the crowd in Miller Gymnasium as Bruin fans sat in anticipation. The Bruins created separation in the set with a 25-18 win to go up 2-0 in the match. 

The final set was complete domination by GFU. Libero Sophia Lawrence got the first serves of the set and quickly put the Bruins up 9-0 before Linfield could even respond. Self-inflicted errors hurt the Wildcats as they nearly handed the Bruins five of their first nine points. Linfield would go on to commit 13 total errors in the final set, allowing the Blue & Gold to pull away comfortably. 

Top Performers

LeBreton, the crowd favorite on the night, had a breakout performance with a team-high ten kills. O'Rear and Ashtyn Butler each added nine more with O'Rear tallying a team-high 11 digs. 

What It Means

The Bruins are riding four-game win-streak to sit at 8-11 overall and 5-5 in NWC play. Fox sits in a tie for fifth place with Willamette. 

What Comes Next

The Bruins will face Willamette and fourth-place Pacific Lutheran in their next two games. GFU and Willamette each trail PLU by half a game.
