TACOMA --- The George Fox volleyball team is officially on fire, as the blazing Bruins won on the road at Pacific Lutheran to make a season-high, five-game hot streak in NWC play in four tight sets.

The Bruins won their fifth straight match in four sets with bookend victories, claiming the opening and closing sets to win 25-19, 21-25, 25-23, 25-23.

The first set was the most separation the Bruins created throughout the match with the six-point win. Paige O'Rear, Bailey LeBreton, and Liv Alexander each had three kills to propel the Bruins in the set. The Bruins did commit five errors in the first set which kept PLU alive.

The second set was a PLU win but the Bruins tried to keep it close. PLU consistently won its own serves throughout the set and claimed five of the final eight to take it 25-21. LeBreton and Ashtyn Butler had three kills each in the set.

The Bruins and Lutes played nearly identically in the final two sets, with GFU winning each 25-23 to win the match 3-1. The two squads exchanged points shot for shot before the Bruins ultimately pulled away to claim the match and escape the pressure of the road crowd at PLU.

Top Performers

Laney Search had a phenomenal evening for the Bruins, tallying 46 assists against the Lutes - one off her career best set earlier in the season, 47 against Puget Sound in Newberg. O'Rear, LeBreton, and Butler had standout games on offense with O'Rear having 15 kills. LeBreton and Butler added 13 apiece. Junior libero Sophia Lawrence had a game-high 26 digs.

What It Means

The Bruins are in the middle of quite the streak with five straight wins to be at 6-5 with a winning record in in NWC play and sit at fifth in the NWC standings.
