TACOMA --- The George Fox Bruins fell to the Pacific Lutheran Lutes in overtime by a final score of 2-1 in a tough road loss.

George Fox came out of the gate ready to play, keeping the conference-perfect Lutes off bal- ance with early offensive pressure. Shots from Kara Ryker and Maggee Hodgdon set the tone, even though none of them found the net. However, in the 27", teammate Brittany Bravo took a shot that deflected off the crossbar to Madison Burch who punched it in to give the Bruins the early 1-0 lead. 

The goal seemed to focus the Lutes' play as they tightened up on defense, which lead to their first offensive push in the 36". Two shots were taken, but none got past goalkeeper Brooke Jones. 

The second half was a back and forth battle of possession that quickly lead to shots on goal. Good George Fox defense held the Lutes at bay, but a goal from Meghan Gormley in the 86" tied the game at 1-1. Amy Hatter and Hodgdon both got shots before regulation time expired, but neither scored. 

The overtime period opened with Bruin pressure from Katlyn Martinez and Burch, but the of- fensive power wasn't enough to score. George Fox played great defense, but a brilliant goal from Meghan Michels off a flashy dribble play gave the Lutes the golden goal and the win. 

Top Performers

Burch scored her forth goal of the season, leading the team in scoring for the day and the sea- son. Ryker also played well, tying Hodgdon with the most shots taken. Bravo also played an important role and was credited with an assist. 

What It Means

George Fox falls to 2-9-2 in conference play and 4-9-3 on the season.

The Bruins play on Sunday, November 3rd against the Puget Sound Loggers in Tacoma, Wash. The match starts at 12:00.
