NEWBERG --- The George Fox men's tennis team kicked off Northwest Conference play in dominant fashion on Saturday, beating the visiting Lutes of Pacific Lutheran, 9-0.

George Fox opened the match with doubles play and quickly jumped all over the Lutes. Payton Namba and Thierry Van Os teamed up at the No. 3 spot to execute a near-perfect 8-1 victory. Will Leach and Keaten Baker kept the momentum going at the No. 1 spot with an 8-2 victory over Lutes' Michael Campbell and Marcus Lee. Alex Namba and Luke Lemaitre hammered home the sweep in doubles action, taking the No. 2 spot with an 8-4 victory.
The Bruins fed off that quick start in doubles play and let it filter down into singles. A. Namba grabbed the Bruins' first point in singles with a clean sheet, 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 2 singles. Leach only allowed two points in his match with a 6-2, 6-0 win at the No. 1 spot, while Thierry Van Os gave up one total point in a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 4. Rox Rogers pulled off a big win at No. 3 and P. Namba secured a 6-1, 6-2 well-fought win at No. 5. Sam Watt closed the door and kept the Bruins perfect with a 6-3, 6-4 win at the No. 6 spot. Noah Miyamura got in on the action in the bonus match at No. 8 singles, winning his matchup in a tiebreaker.

The Bruins move to 2-3 on the season and start NWC play undefeated.
