Box Score LEWISTON, Idaho --- The George Fox men's tennis team finished its mid-semester road trip with a neutral-site test against NCAA Division I opponent Idaho and fell in a 5-0 match that was played until the clinching flight was claimed by the Vandals.
Recap
The Bruins were swept in the doubles flights – played as one point per Division I rules – but each pairing put up a good fight. Will Leach and Alex Namba played to the same set score as the pairing of Rox Rogers and Luke Lemaitre, falling 6-2 to their Vandal opponents. Camden Camacho and Thierry Van Os pushed their third-flight opponents to a final score of 6-3 in a hard-fought effort.
The singles flights were only played to clinch and the fifth and sixth flights remained unfinished after the winning point was scored for Idaho.
Leach was defeated 7-6, 6-2, 6-2 in the first singles flight, while Lematire also pushed his opponent to three sets in the second flight. Lemaitre was ultimately bested in a 6-4, 4-6, 1-6 effort that went to his Vandals foe, but not without an incredible effort from both him and Leach.
Rogers was beaten in straight sets but did not go quietly in a 6-4, 6-2 affair at the No. 3 spot in the lineup. Namba played his opponent to a 6-4, 6-1 defeat and the remaining flights were left unfinished, with Van Os in the midst of a 6-4, 4-3 match and Jonah Wafula paused in a 7-5, 4-3 set of his own.
