Box Score SALEM --- The George Fox men's tennis team remained unbeaten on the weekend after cruising to an 8-1 victory at Willamette on Sunday.
Doubles
Fox started the match with a 3-0 slate coming out of doubles action. The eighth-ranked team of Will Leach and Alex Namba turned in an 8-2 victory while Luke Lemaitre and Rox Rogers earned a win at No. 2 by the same score. GFU concluded doubles with a win at the No. 3 spot as Camden Camacho and Thierry Van Os finished with an 8-0 shutout.
Singles
The Bruins carried their dominance into singles play after sweeping the doubles competition. The blue and gold posted a near shutout with their only loss of the day coming at No. 1 singles.
Pete Gibson rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 blanking of his opponent at No. 5 while Jonah Wafula finished right behind him with a near-sweep of 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4. Rogers continued his successful weekend by way of a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2, and Namba added a 6-3, 6-1 victory in the three slot. Noah Miyamura picked up the final point for the Bruins, sealing the 8-1 victory with a 6-3, 6-2 decision at No. 6.
No. 12 Will Leach suffered the sole loss at No. 1 singles, dropping a tough 6-2, 6-4 match.
What It Means
With the victory, the Bruins complete a perfect 2-0 weekend to kick off their conference campaign undefeated and improve to 3-3 overall.
"It's great to come out of the weekend with both victories," said head coach Jeff Cero. "We are looking forward to Idaho State and Texas Concordia this upcoming weekend."

The men's team heads back to Newberg to host Idaho St. on Saturday, Mar. 14. The match is set to begin at noon.
