NEWBERG, Ore. --- After matching Whitworth with a goal in the first half, the George Fox men's soccer team conceded two goals in the second half to fall 3-1 Saturday.
How it Happened
Jaime Rodriguez scored a goal less than fifteen minutes into the game to put the Pirates up 1-0. Five minutes later, the Bruins'
Alan Rincón evened the match with a free-kick goal and the teams went to halftime tied 1-1.
In the second half, the Bruins were unable to answer after the Pirates scored two goals to take a 3-1 lead. With 19 minutes to go, Whitworth's Arthur Beckett deposited a free-kick into the back of the net to give the Pirates a 2-1 edge. Victor Loyola scored five minutes later to put the Pirates ahead 3-1 which they would carry until the final whistle.
The game was active and intense from the beginning. Both teams combined for a total of 21 shots over the course of the game, while the goalies stayed busy for a combined six saves. There were a combined 10 corner kicks and 20 fouls.

Rincón scored the Bruins' sole goal on the day, while Arthur Beckett, Jaime Rodriguez, and Victor Loyola led the Pirates offensively with one goal each.
