NEWBERG, Ore. --- The George Fox Men's Tennis team combined to go 10-8 in singles and 2-3 in doubles against strong Division I competition on day two of the PNW Invitational.

How It Happened

In singles play, George Fox fans will see an all-Bruin final in the C singles draw. Alle Banna and Hunter Fujimori will take a break from their C doubles partnership and go head-to-head in the C draw championship tomorrow at 11:00 a.m.

Will Leach defeated the No. 1 seed Francisco Bascon from Division I Idaho in A singles. Leach fought tooth and nail before coming out on top 6-7(0) 7-5 10-7. Leach then teamed up with senior Luke Lemaitre to defeat Pacific's Aidan Rooney and Quentin Gonzalez in a rematch of the ITA Final. The Bruin duo dispatched the Boxers 6-3.

Coach's Thoughts

"Alle and Hunter played incredible singles today and capped off the day with a solid doubles win against Seattle," said head coach Jeff Cero. "They have worked hard on their games over the past year since joining the program, and it's great to see areas on the court beginning to show their effort & development."

"Will did an excellent job against a very quality opponent in Francisco. After dropping the first set with chances to put it away, he showed a lot of resiliency coming back and turning it around. It definitely has been an area of growth in his game against top players like him."

What It Means

The PNW Invitational marks the final outing for the team as a whole.

The Bruins will break for winter after day three of the PNW Invitational tomorrow, Oct. 2. Lemaitre and Leach, however, qualified for the ITA Oracle Cup and will travel to Georgia October 14-17.
