MCMINNVILLE, Ore. — The George Fox volleyball team paid a visit to Linfield on Saturday night and came away with a 3-1 road victory to close out an arduous 13-game road trip.
How it Happened
The Bruins came storming into Wilson Gymnasium looking like they had something to prove. GFU rushed out to a 10-0 lead in the opening set before Linfield was able to even attempt a response. George Fox held off the 'Cats and won four consecutive serves from
Kaitlyn Johnson to close out the first set 25-18.
In the second set, it was more of a back-and-forth affair. Both teams traded serves early and often, going point-for point all the way up to 23-23 before
Bailey LeBreton and
Reagan Fernandez combined for a block to put the set away 25-23 and put the Bruins ahead 2-0.
Linfield felt the pressure mounting as they entered the third set looking to avoid a sweep. George Fox fell behind early and Linfield cut the deficit to 2-1 with a 25-18 set score. George Fox, with no interest in going to a tiebreaker set for the second straight night, finished off the Wildcats in the fourth set, edging out a 25-23 win as
Caitlin Nemecek spiked home the winning point to take the 3-1 victory.
