ABILENE, Texas --- The George Fox men's basketball team fell in a tough road contest in Texas Saturday to Hardin-Simmons by a final line of 88-67.
How it Happened
The Bruins held the Cowboys to a close matchup for much of the first half, as both teams struggled to find a rhythm offensively and create separation. HSU used an 11-2 run to close out the first half to carry a 41-32 lead into the locker room.
The Cowboys quickly turned the lead into a 20 point gap about four minutes into the second half, 54-34. George Fox had its moments of success on the offensive end in the second half but ultimately Hardin-Simmons had enough in the tank to hold off the Bruins. Austin Clark and Donovan Cox both scored 8 points in the closing period to buoy the Bruins offensively as they tried to make a comeback.
Top Performers
Clark led the way with 15 points and Zac Schmerber also tallied double digits with 10 in the contest. Kalu Stricklin added a team-high six rebounds.
What it Means
George Fox has dropped three straight and falls to 2-3 on the season heading into the first machup of NWC competition.
