McMINNVILLE, Ore. — One night after their high-scoring affair with Linfield that resulted in a win, the George Fox men's basketball team was unable to replicate their success against the Wildcats in a 100-74 loss in the second game of the NWC series.
How it Happened
Linfield came out of the opening tip firing, running up an 18-4 lead in the first five minutes of play and never really looked back. The Wildcats held a 22-point advantage at the half, carrying a 54-32 lead into the locker room. Ryan Lacey led the Bruins in scoring at the break with eight points.
Linfield went on another run to start the second half with a 19-7 run in the opening five minutes of the half to put the game out of reach and went into cruise control to close out the win 100-74. Charlie Powers had a strong second half to end the night with 17 points to lead the Bruins in scoring and Zac Schmerber added seven points in the period to finish with 13.
Top Performers
Three Bruins finished in double-figures led by Powers with 17, followed by Schmerber's 13, and Lacey with 10. Powers also led the Bruins with six rebounds on the night.
What It Means
The Bruins fall to 1-5 on the year with the loss to the Wildcats while Linfield improves to 1-1 on the year.
What Happens Next
The Bruins have a two-game NWC slate with Pacific next Friday and Saturday.
