Box Score NEWBERG, Ore. --- George Fox earned its sixth win of the 2021 season with an 8-1 final after facing Willamette for the second time over the weekend.
How It Happened
George Fox blasted its way through the doubles flights with two 8-0 wins and an 8-2 decision at the no. 2 spot. Will Leach and Luke Lemaitre and Sam Watt and Alle Banna came up with sweeps, while Camden Camacho worked with Hunter Fujimori at no. 2 to finish the sweep.
In singles play, the Bruins mixed their lineup and took five of the six flights. Lemaitre worked through the Bearcats' no. 1 singles player with a 6-2, 6-0 win and Fujimori sweated out a 7-5, 6-3 win playing up at no. 2. Camacho and Banna each earned 6-0, 6-0 sweeps at nos. 3 & 4 singles, and Watt picked up the Bruins' fifth singles win with a 6-2, 6-1 decision. Noah Miyamura fought hard in a 5-7, 4-6 defeat at no. 6 singles to finish the day.
Their Thoughts
"Doubles came out with great energy and the guys really built on it," said coach Jeff Cero afterward. "Noah battled today at the six spot and it was awesome to see him out there giving it everything he had, even if the score didn't go his way. We're looking forward to this week coming up."

George Fox moves to 6-4 overall while the Bearcats' slump continues on with an 0-10 record.
