Box Score PORTLAND, Ore. --- George Fox men's tennis claimed its first-ever Northwest Conference title after defeating Lewis & Clark, 8-1, on the road to clinch the regular-season honors.
How It Happened
George Fox got off to a hot start with a sweep of the doubles flights. Will Leach and Luke Lemaitre took down the Pios' top flight, 8-6, in a battle of top-ranked regional doubles pairings. Rox Rogers and Hunter Fujimori won the second flight, 8-3, and Camden Camacho worked with Vahag Pashayan to clinch the third doubles flight with an 8-4 decision.
In singles, Lemaitre played up at no. 1 and came away with the win in a 6-1, 7-5 grind.
Leach played the second singles match and won with a 6-2, 6-4 final. Camacho earned a hard-fought victory at the fourth singles, 6-2, 1-6, 10-3. Fujimori also eked out a win in a battle at the no. 6 singles with a 3-6, 6-1, 10-6 final. Rogers breezed through his no. 5 singles matchup with a 6-0, 6-0 win in straight sets.
Their Thoughts
"We definitely capitalized on momentum when we were able to find it [today]," coach Jeff Cero said after the win. "Luke did an awesome job closing out Ramer, a very tough player, and clinching the victory. I'm really proud of the guys' effort and we're looking forward to hosting the tournament!"
What It Means
The Bruins are conference champs, and tournament hosts, for the first time in program history after a perfect season against NWC opponents with a 7-0 record in conference tilts and an 8-4 overall record this season.

The Bruins will host next week in Newberg, dates to be determined, with the field consisting of Whitman, Lewis & Clark, and Pacific (Ore.).
