NEWBERG, Ore. --- The George Fox Bruins suffered a close loss to the Pacific Boxers, losing 3-2 with the final set going to the wire, 15-13.
How It Happened
The first set began with Bruin domination, and despite their later efforts, the Boxers couldn't close the gap, and the Bruins took the set 17-25.
The second set looked like it was going to go the same way as the first, but the Boxers quickly ramped up the competition and took the heavily-contested set 25-22.
The Bruins began the third set in rough shape but managed several bursts of competition. However, it wasn't enough to pull ahead, and they lost the set 25-20.
The critical fourth set saw the Bruins fighting to stay even with the Boxers. However, the Bruins did more than that later in the set, pulling ahead to take it 21-25.
The fifth and final set began poorly for the Bruins, and while they made a heroic last charge and narrowed a significant gap in spectacular fashion, they wound up losing the set and the game.
