Box Score 2 POMONA, Calif. --- The George Fox Volleyball team competed on day two of the Pacific Coast Classic competition in Southern California on Saturday. The Bruins started off the day with a win over Pomona-Pitzer followed by a narrow, five-game loss to Augustana (Ill.).
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bruins took the Sagehens of Pomona-Pitzer to task in their first match of the day. The 3-1 victory went to the tune of 25-21, 25-19, 17-25, 29-27.
George Fox dropped its second match of the day against Augustana in five sets. It was a back and forth affair, but the Bruins couldn't pull off their fifth victory in five games, falling 3-2.
Top Performers
Sophomore Kassandra Staton led the charge offensively for the Bruins in their victory over Pomona-Pitzer, providing 14 kills for the Bruins. Freshman Caitlin Nemecek and junior Bailey LeBreton were close behind, finishing with 12 and 11 kills, respectively.
Coach's Thoughts
Our win against Pomona was a great display of discipline; there was not much room for error and our team played so clean. It was unfortunate to lose in 5 to Augustana, but they played well, and we gave it everything we had left!
What It Means
The Bruins delivered a solid performance in the first four games of a 10-game road trip, going 3-for4 in Pacific Coast Classic action this weekend.

The Blue & Gold is back to work this Friday, taking on Illinois College at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Ore. First serve is set for 4:00 p.m.
