Bruins Bounce Back, Get Win in Walla Walla against Whitman

WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- After a close loss the day prior to Whitworth, the George Fox defeated Whitman College, 2-0, thanks to two late goals.

How It Happened
The Bruins dominated time of possession in the first half and outshot the Blues 14-1 in the frame; Maggie Philips had nine shots in the half alone, with six shots on goal. Despite the constant pressure, the game remained scoreless through 45 minutes. The Bruin defense was relentless in the half, and the Blues weren't able to get a single shot on goal.

The second half looked very similar to the first, with the Bruins commanding the ball upfield but unable to find the back of the net. The goal finally came in the 78th minute. After a corner kick led to a scramble in the box, Lucy Brandt put one in the top-right to put Fox up 1-0. It didn't take long after that for the Bruins to score again. Just four minutes later, Taylor Ho got a shot past the defense with a beautiful chip shot. Madeline Bailey had an amazing save in the 85th to spur the Blues' comeback hopes, sealing the win for George Fox.

The Bruins lead in every major scoring category: they outshot Whitman 27-6, and they had 13 more shots on goal. Fox had six corner opportunities compared to just three for Whitman. The Bruins only allowed two shots on goal all game, both saved.
