Portland, Ore. -- Fresh of a hard-fought win over Whitworth and a battle with Whitman over the weekend, the Bruins continued the momentum with a 6-0 win over Lewis & Clark.
How It Happened
The Bruins wasted little time to begin scoring, as Jeff Freidman found the back of the goal less than 20 minutes into the game with an assist from Eugene Peltier. Following quickly on Friedman's heels, Eugene Peltier took advantage of his own chance to score after an assist from
Connor Kong; Kong found the open freshman streaking towards the back post to extend the Bruin lead to 2-0.
Rounding out the scoring for the half,
Kyle Revell put home another point in favor of the Bruins from a penalty kick, giving the Bruins a 3-0 lead at half.
Looking to continue to add on,
Kyle Revell drove home his second score of the game to begin to pull away from the Pios by a score of 4-0 — this time, the senior poked the ball past the defense and won the one-on-one with the Pioneer goalie..
Looking to preserve their lead, the Bruins turned to defense to hold off the Pios, which they successfully did. Then, with time expiring in the second half, Josiah Adams drove home the Bruins fifth point of the game with an assist from
Kevin Garcia, sealing the Pios defeat. With seconds winding down, senior defender
Jamie O'Connell scored the Bruins sixth and final point of the game in the 90th minute with the help of
Johnny Keblish, assuring the Bruins victory.
Top Performers
Offensively,
Kyle Revell led the way for the Bruins with two goals on three shots — entering the game, the senior had yet to record a goal. Right behind Revell, Eugene Peltier collected two shots and a goal, while
Jeff Friedman and
Jamie O'Connell also had a shot and goal. Defensively, Keoni Gavino contributed a save to the Bruin's defensive effort in their rout of the Pios.
Coach's Thoughts
"Tonight was a wonderful night with a number of different players contributing to the outcome," Bruin head coach
Paul Karver said, "Lewis & Clark has grown since we played last and it's wonderful to have the opportunity to play against a team that will be in the conference next year. Now we need to take the growth and momentum we have found into Friday and Sunday to finish strong."
What It Means
The Bruins move to 5-10-3 overall, remaining 2-7-3 in conference play — Lewis & Clark will officially join the conference next fall. After winning three of their last four games, Fox hopes to make a strong finish with two games left in their season.
What Happens Next
The Bruins face off against the Pacific Boxers on Friday, Nov. 4 at Austin Sports Complex at 7:30 p.m. for Senior Night festivities.
