Salem, Ore. -- After picking up a big win the night prior over Pacific Lutheran, the George Fox volleyball team fell to Willamette, 3-0, in their final game of the year.
How It Happened
Hoping to capture the momentum early, the Bruins came out hot, capturing an early four-point lead. However, as the set progressed, the Bearcats managed to retake the lead, finishing the set with a close 25-22 victory. Â
The Bruins brought the energy again in the second set, matching the Bearcats scoring through the first couple points. However, as the set reached the midway point, the Bearctas began to pull away, scoring seven five points before eventually taking the match, 25-16.
Now fighting to extend the match, the Bruins once again tried to garner energy to carry them victory. However, the Bearcats jumped out to an early 10-3 lead, controlling the tempo of the game. Trailing 22-12, the Bruins launched a comeback effort, scoring seven straight points thanks to four attack errors and a service ace from
Kassandra Staton. While Fox managed to close the gap, the Bearcats ultimately closed out the season for the Bruins with a 25-20 third set victory.

Kassandra Staton led the Bruins with 10 kills, with
Addison Robertson following close behind with 6 of the same. Defensively, Piper Harris registered 15 digs, while
Bailey LeBreton contributed with 5 blocks. Â

"Our season had a lot of ups and downs this year, but I'm proud of how much growth we had," Bruin head coach
Emily Davis said, "We fought hard for the wins we got this year, and we are excited about the future. I'm so grateful for all the support our program has."
What It Means
The Bruins finish their season at 12-11 overall, with a 9-7 record in conference. The Bruins finished their season in 5th in the Northwest Conference, just two games out of the closely-contested first place spot.
