Turnovers Cost Fox in Loss to Lewis-Clark State

LEWISTON, Idaho. -- The George Fox women's basketball team traveled to Idaho to play the NAIA No. 13. Lewis-Clark State Warriors, a game where the Bruins couldn't overcome 28 turnovers in their 70-41 loss.

How It Happened
The Warriors ran an extended 2-3 zone, a unique look with lots of pressure on the Bruin ball handlers. The defense led to Fox shooting just 3-18 from the field with five first quarter turnovers that gave Lewis-Clark the opportunity to end the quarter with a 19-8 lead.

The Bruins shot much better in the second quarter, hitting three threes while allowing zero made threes for the Warriors. However, the Warriors dominated in the paint, extending their lead heading into the break. After two quarters, the Bruins were down 39-21.

In the third, the Bruins matched the Warriors in shooting and rebounding, but the points the Warriors got off turnovers continued to hurt Fox. The Bruins were unable to find any way to pull closer; every time the Bruins started to put something together, the Warriors would calmly go on a run of their own.

The fourth saw some reserves getting some extended minutes of playing time, and more of the same on the stat sheet. The Warriors defense swarmed the Bruins all game long, and the turnovers and lack of shooting led to the lopsided loss.

What It Means
George Fox falls to 2-4 (1-1 NWC) on the year, while Lewis-Clark State improves to 8-1 (3-0 CCC), as they improve their win streak to eight games.
