LOS ANGELES --- After finishing a suspended game with a gritty winning effort, the Bruins carried that momentum into the final game of the series and broke out the big hits in a 16-9 victory over Occidental.
How It Happened
Fox kept the good times rolling with two runs in the top of the first as Jeremy Sangalang drove in Jared Miller and Jared Whitaker returned the favor to plate Sangalang for a 2-0 lead.
Fox added two more in the third for what would become a 4-2 lead after three full frames and erupted for six runs in the fourth to officially put the game in the fridge.
Brandon King launched a two-run single into center field and Spencer Roos came up with the bases loaded before driving a grand slam out in straightaway center for a 10-2 lead.
The Tigers got three of those runs back in the fourth but Fox wasn't done scoring.
Fox added two tallies each in the fifth, seventh, and eighth frames for good measure to keep the pedal down on offense. King laced a two-run homer in the seventh and Noah Meffert was active all day, scoring and driving in runs with singles and doubles to help the Bruins in their winning effort.
Top Performances
King hit .500 (3-6) with a homer and four RBI, while Roos drove in five with a sacrifice fly and a grand slam. Sangalang, King, and Miller scored three runs each to drive the offense.
On the hill, Wills earned the win after two and two thirds of an inning in a staff game for Fox. Ryan Silver and Jonathan Stone each kept clean sheets in relief and combined to close the game on just 20 pitches over the last one and a third frames.
Coach's Thoughts
Today was a great day of baseball," coach Kevin Kopple said. "Really a complete team win to get game two and then we were able to get some big hits in the finale. Great series win on the road against a good team!"
