FOREST GROVE, Ore. --- The George Fox women's lacrosse team continues to roll through the 2022 season after trouncing the Pacific Boxers, 23-0, on Sunday, March 13.
How It Happened
Fox put 10 goals into the Boxer net by the end of the first quarter and played with a running clock the rest of the way. Olivia Geyling netted a hat trick, Carleigh DeLapp scored twice in the opening 15 minutes, and Fox cruised to an easy win and its first shutout victory of the season from that point onward.
The Bruins were able to keep the ball on their offensive third for the majority of the game after winning a majority of the draws. On possessions initially won by the Boxers the Bruin defense was able to snuff any momentum almost immediately, holding Pacific to just two shots all game long without allowing a shot on goal.
Andrea Garcia-Milla kept directing the team from the X all afternoon and finished the day with seven assists, one off her career best for a single game and tied for fourth in the Bruins' single-game record book.
Top Performances
The team defense as a whole deserves a shoutout for the shutout and no shots allowed on goal, while on offense Garcia-Milla's nine points (two goals, seven assists) are the most for a Bruin in one game this year.
Coach's Thoughts
"We are definitely glad to close out the week with three more wins under our belt," coach Katie Brand said. "We have three great matchups ahead of us and are excited for what the next few weeks have in store for us!"
What It Means
Fox is now 6-0 on the year and 4-0 in conference, while Pacific falls to 1-4 overall and is winless in conference games after four tries.
