NEWBERG, Ore. --- Carleigh DeLapp found the back of the net five times for George Fox on Wednesday evening at Austin Sports Complex as the Bruins rolled to a 17-5 home victory in a non conference matchup with Hamline University on Saturday.
How It Happened
The George Fox offense got rolling early as the Bruins seemed settled in from the jump in the contest, scoring three quick goals courtesy of Kyra Barnes, Lyla Roy, and DeLapp. DeLapp had tallied two goals and the Bruins led 4-0 before Hamline found its first goal. Roy netted another one and Olivia Geyling and Sydney Thatch also added their names to the scoresheet before the first quarter was up and George Fox led 7-1.
DeLapp added another pair of goals in the second quarter and the Bruins kept their foot on the gas as they held a wide 11-2 lead going into halftime. George Fox took advantage of the space the Hamline defense was giving them, making aggressive cuts in the crease and finding dangerous looks and making the Pipers pay for it.
Hamline turned up the defensive intensity and slowed the Bruins offense in the second half but ultimately George Fox was too dominant to be slowed, netting six more in the second half to finish out a 17-5 win.
