HILTON HEAD, S.C. --- The George Fox women's tennis team faced NCAA Division II foe Slippery Rock on Saturday, Mar. 19, and was swept to snap a three-match winning streak.
How It Happened
Playing by NCAA DI rules, Fox lost the doubles point to fall behind, 1-0 after Slippery Rock swept the three doubles matchups. Ellie Mangan and Olivia Morris paired at court one and were the most competitive in their matchup with a 6-3 final.
In singles, The Rock worked its way through the six Bruins in the lineup to grab the sweeping win at the Beach and Tennis complex. Danielle Brown and Brenna VanderYacht were each able to compete deep into their sets with 6-4 scores against their NCAA DII opponents on courts two and four, respectively, before being retired in the loss. Mangan's best set on court one was a 6-3 final, and on court six Cassey Hitch battled to a 6-2, 6-2 final.
What It Means
Fox falls to 8-5 on the year while Slippery Rock improves to 5-3 this year.
