NEWBERG, Ore. --- The newest era of Bruin men's tennis has hit another program milestone after finishing off Whitman with a clean 9-0 sweep of the Blues on the Bruins' home courts today!
How It Happened
Fox cruised through doubles to start off the matchup with a 3-0 lead and set the terms for the morning's matchup. Camden Camacho and Vahag Pashayan finished first with an 8-4 win in the third doubles matchup, and the tandem of Will Leach and Luke Lemaitre finished up next with an 8-4 win in the first doubles match. Rox Rogers and Luis Rojas completed the doubles sweep with an 8-6 win to move the match into singles play.
Leach made quick work of his opponent at the first singles matchup with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep. Luke Lemaitre would finish next with a 6-1, 6-1 win at the second singles flight, and Camacho defeated his sixth-court foe with a 6-1, 6-4 win to give the Bruins a 6-0 lead. Leach, Lemaitre, and Camacho all finished in under an hour on the court. Pashayan was the next Bruin to wrap up play and gave Fox the makings of the sweep with a 6-3, 6-2 win on the fourth court in just under 75 minutes of action.
The last two singles matches were both battles that could have gone either way, but Fox locked in and clinched the sweep with two more wins on the third and fifth courts. Rojas ground out a win on the third court, 6-3, 6-1, in a little under two hours, and Ryan OIson put the candles on the cake with a tiebreak win on the fifth court. The freshman capped it with a 6-7 (2), 6-2, 1-0 (11-9) winÂ
