WALLA WALLA, Wash. --- The George Fox women's tennis team suffered its second loss in as many days after wrapping up its 'Whits' trip at Whitman with a 2-7 loss.
How It Happened
Danielle Brown teamed up with Cassey Hitch to defeat the Blues' number one doubles team in tiebreak, 8-7 (7-4). Ellie Mangan and Abigail Bond also won their doubles pairing on the third court with an 8-3 final to claim the Bruins' second point of the match.
The Blues would go on to sweep all six singles courts, but the Fox players did acquit themselves well on multiple courts.
Mangan was able to prolong her matchup at no. 2 singles with a 1-6, 4-6 defeat and Olivia Morris also put up a good fight on court five with a 1-6, 5-7 final.
Kalli Wiker certainly battled the longest and was the closest to a win in singles. Wiker took her opponent on court three to a tiebreak third set in a marathon matchup that required a 3-6, 6-0, 0-1 (9-11) final to end it.
What It Means
Fox falls to 4-3 overall and is 0-2 to start its 2022 conference schedule, while the Blues are now 5-1 overall and 2-0 in conference.
