McMINNVILLE, Ore. --- George Fox baseball was able to avoid a season sweep by the Wildcats with a 6-4 win at Linfield's home park on Sunday, Apr. 10.
How It Happened
Ben Wills got the game started with five and two thirds of work on the hill, allowing three earned runs on nine hits with two strikeouts. Noah Meffert finished the last three and a third for his third save of the season.
Neither offense could get going early, cruising through four scoreless innings before Fox kicked the scoring off in the fifth. Shane White led off the inning with a single, Spencer Roos moved him with a bunt single, and Jared Miller singled White home for the first run of the game. A bunt single by Jared Gee and a throwing error resulted in a run for Roos, and an RBI single from Jeremy Sangalang made it a 3-0 ball game. Two infield singles from Jonathan Stone and Roos made it a 4-0 ball game after the top of the sixth. The Bruins allowed three runs in the bottom of the inning, but single runs in the seventh and eighth put more cushion between the Bruins and Linfield. Brandon King drew an RBI walk in the seventh with the bases loaded, and Gee singled in another run in the eighth.
