NEWBERG, Ore. --- The George Fox lacrosse team continued its undefeated season with a Senior Day win over Puget Sound on Sunday, Apr. 10, after netting 16 against the Loggers.
How It Happened
Fox put the pedal down early and put in five first-quarter scores, led by two scores from Marena Tharpe and what proved to be the game-winner from Kyra Barnes. Seniors Bailey Faust and Andrea Garcia-Milla each put in a goal in the first quarter as well to set the tone for the day.
Six unanswered goals in the second quarter turned on the running clock for good after an unassisted Faust goal with almost 10 minutes left in the first half. Sydney Thatch added two scores to close the first half up 11-0, and in the third quarter Fox put in three more before the Loggers netted their first of the day for a 14-1 lead. Fox held the Loggers scoreless for almost 45 minutes of game clock before giving up the score late in the third.
Both offenses slowed in the fourth quarter but Fox won that period as well, 2-1, with scores from Carleigh DeLapp and Thatch for the 16-2 final.
