NEWBERG, Ore. --- George Fox finished its regular season slate on a high note and sent its senior, Danielle Brown, out on her home court with a 7-2 team victory over the Puget Sound Loggers.
How It Happened
The Bruins got two of the three doubles matches to start off strong on Senior Day. Cassey Hitch and Kalli Wiker won, 8-3, on court two, and Ellie Mangan worked with Abigail Bond to defeat the Loggers' no. 3 tandem on court three, 8-3.
Olivia Morris finished first in singles with a 6-0, 6-3 win on court four and Hitch notched a 6-2, 6-2 win on court six to inch closer to the team victory. Brown played her last home match at no. 1 and fought well in a 6-1, 6-3 loss to the Loggers' top singles player to wrap up her time on the Bruins' home courts, and a 6-1, 6-2 win for Mangan on court two officially sealed the team win. Brenna VanderYacht won on court five, 6-2, 6-3, to give the Bruins six team points, and Wiker finished the match with a 7-5, 6-1 win on court three.
What It Means
The Bruins improve to 13-7 overall and have notched a 5-3 conference record this year, putting them into the Northwest Conference tournament as the No. 4 seed. The Bruins finished the regular season with a two-match winning streak and a 7-2 record at home.
