How It Happened
Fox got off to a fast start with an early 6-2 lead in set one. The Boxers caught up with a run of their own and briefly took the lead in the middle of the opening stanza, but the Bruins doubled them up 10-5 down the stretch to win, 25-19.
The Boxers were able to level the match at 1-1 after taking set two, 25-19. Fox led, 15-12, midway through the set but Pacific put together an incredible run and outscored the Bruins 13-4 to grab the win and guarantee a fourth set.
The Bruins bounced back in the third set to pull ahead in the match with another early lead. Once again, Pacific battled back and claimed an 11-9 lead briefly before Fox put the pedal to floor and outscored the Boxers 16-7 to win, 25-18.
The fourth set was never in doubt for the Bruins as they used an 11-1 run to build a 18-9 lead and put the match in the fridge. Fox used two of its weapons at the service line, Kaitlyn Johnson and Julissa Rocha-Ibarra, to keep the Boxers off balance throughout the final set in a 25-17 win.
