NEWBERG, Ore. --- In a Saturday afternoon game that saw 12 cards handed out, the Bruins fought hard but came up just short against the Linfield Wildcats, losing 1-0.
How It Happened
In a physical first half between the two squads,it was Linfield that drew first blood in the 15th minute. Cameron Gaines's header found its way past
Cade Matsumoto's outstretched arms and into the top right of the net to give Linfield a 1-0 lead. The half saw 15 fouls called and five yellow cards handed out— four to the Bruins and two to the Wildcats.
The intense physicality continued into the second half as two yellows were handed out to the first seven minutes.
Kellin Aguiar had one of the best chances of the day for the Bruins in the 57th minute, but his shot from 18 yards out was deflected.
13 minutes later, the Bruins had another prime opportunity with two consecutive corner kicks.
Eugene Peltier's ball barely crested over the crossbar to keep the score 0-1. In the second half, Fox outshot 6-1, but was unable to find the back of the net. When all was said and done, the Wildcats held off a charging Bruin squad in the final minutes.
Top Performers
Aguiar, Peltier, and

Coach's Thoughts
"Today was a difficult game but an important lesson learned for us," Bruin head coach
Paul Karver said, "It was the tale of two halves, we can out flat and they took advantage of that. The second half we made adjustments and had a number of chances to level the game and potentially win it."
What It Means
