NEWBERG, Ore. -- The George Fox volleyball team defeated the Whitman Blues in four sets after jumping out to a two-set lead to continue a hot start to conference play.
How It Happened
The Bruins pounced on the Blues in the first set, winning 25-15. Fox looked clean in the first, with a .239 hit percentage and 11 kills — paired with the Blues' 8 attack errors, the Bruins had no trouble going into the second set.
A back-and-forth second set ended with the Bruins winning 25-22, pulling away after being tied 20-20. The Bruins used four service aces and an impressive .275 hit percentage to extend their lead over the Blues to two sets.
The Bruins dropped the third set, 25-23, but responded by winning the fourth 26-24. Knotted at 24, the Bruins rallied to win two points in a row and take the game on a receiving error by the Blues. Fox recorded an impressive 14 kills in the last set to send the Blues home.
Top Performances
Addison Robertson had an impressive night with 12 kills, while
Bailey LeBreton chipped in 11 kills on a .417 hit percentage.
Kennedy Kibby led the team in assists with 25.
Coach's Thoughts
We played great in the beginning of tonight's match," Bruin head coach
Emily Davis said, "We benefited from a good solid team effort on offense and we battled through some tight scores in the last two sets. Whitman has some great players, I'm very glad we got the win."

The Bruins improved to 7-5, with a solid 4-1 Northwest Conference mark, while the Whitman Blues fell to 3-11 (1-4 NWC).
