NEWBERG, Ore. — After hanging tight in the first half, the George Fox Men's Soccer team were unable to keep up with the offense of the Loggers, falling, 4-1, in their sixth conference game of the year.
How It Happened
The team was tested early, as a goal on a penalty kick barely three minutes into the game put the Bruins in an early 1-0 hole. Though the offense was unable to even up the game, the defense kept the Bruins close, with
Keoni Gavino recording two saves to keep them within striking distance going into the second half.
In similar fashion to the first half, the Loggers scored in the first few minutes of the half to double their lead. After adding another goal shortly after that, the Bruins answered with a goal of their own courtesy of
Santiago Munevar with an assist from
Eugene Peltier. However, the Loggers answered back with another goal in short order, taking a 4-1 lead that the Bruins would not be able to erase.
Top Performers

Keoni Gavino registered three saves.
Coach's Thoughts
"The game we love can be fickle sometimes," said Bruin head coach
Paul Karver, "We played well for long stretches, but giving up a penalty and being forced to chase a game for 88 minutes will always be a challenge."
What It Means
The Bruins drop to 3-6-1 overall and 2-3-1 in conference play, a record they hope to improve against Whitman.
What Happens Next
The Bruins hit the field next against Whitman on Saturday, October 7th at 2:30 p.m. in Walla Walla, Wash.
