WALLA WALLA, Wash. — The George Fox men's soccer team struggled to get scoring opportunities in their matchup with NWC rival Whitman Blues, giving up three goals in the second half as they fell, 4-0.
How It Happened
Fox found themselves down early with the Blues scoring a goal in the 19th minute. Fox took three shots compared to the six of the Blues; the best GFU opportunities came in the 15th and 42nd minutes, but both looks were saved by the Blues keeper.
The Bruins defense held tough coming out of halftime, though the possession stayed in their half of the field for much of the half. The Blues broke through for their second goal of the game in the 77th minute. The Blues would strike again just two minutes later, then two more times late in the game before the final whistle finally blew. Fox had a pair of good looks back-to-back in the 72nd minute, though both could not find the back of the net.

Coach's Thoughts
"We played well for the first 50-60 minutes of the game and had a number of opportunities,' said Bruin head coach
Paul Karver, "This is another game where we played well, but giving up a goal early left us chasing late, and that's what made the score lopsided as we went after the game."
What It Means
Fix drops to 3-7-1 (2-4-1 NWC), and Whitman moves to 4-5-2 (4-2-1 NWC).
