NEWBERG, Ore. – George Fox women's soccer was even with the Puget Sound Loggers for almost the entire game, but a Loggers goal in the 74th minute doomed Fox as they dropped the game, 1-0.
How It Happened
The first half was barren for both teams, with both teams only managing to get off three shots. GFU freshman
Liv Haima notched the only shot on target in the half, coming in the 18th minute. The effort was saved by the UPS keeper, and the half would go on without another shot on target again.
The second half featured six unanswered shots by the Bruins in the first twenty minutes, all were either saved, blocked, or missed. The Bruins would end the game with more opportunities than the Loggers, but they failed to put any of the opportunities in the back of the net. The Loggers took the lead in the 74th minute, after the Bruins lost possession on a throw-in, leading to the Loggers having a one-on-one with the Bruins' keeper in the box, which they put in the back of the net. The Bruins had two more opportunities to score, but both shots were off target, and as the final whistle blew, the Bruins were scoreless after nine shots. The Loggers bested the Bruins, 1-0.
