Nine Athletes Race as Fox Preps For Conference

INDEPENDENCE, Ore. -- At the Linfield George Oja Cross Country Invitational held at Oak Knoll Golf Club, the George Fox cross country team made a strategic decision to rest their top runners in preparation for the NWC meet, with nine athletes competing in the event.

Top Performances
In the men's 8K race, Trevor Wilber led the Bruins, finishing 65th with a time of 25:50.5. He was followed by Benjamin Bourne at 78th place with a time of 26:05.7, Larry Trefry at 150th place with a time of 27:33.7, Alden Williams at 153rd place with a time of 27:36.4, and Maximus Chalpoutis at 211th place with a time of 29:17.8. As a team, the Bruins finished 15th overall.

In the women's 6K race, Abbie Goodwin finished 61st with a time of 23:33.1, followed closely by Chloe Cook at 66th place with a time of 23:37.8, and Savanna Pitman at 76th place with a time of 23:56.6. Athena Lau crossed the finish line at 135th place with a time of 26:08.2.

Despite resting their top athletes, the Bruins showcased their depth and determination at the meet, with several runners posting competitive times in their respective races.

Coach's Thoughts
"Abbie and Chloe had strong days," Bruin head coach Mike Wilson said, "Definitely nice steps forward for those two. Trevor and Benjamin got out a little too excited, but hung in there for a solid race as well."

Up Next
The Bruins will now have a week off to train and rest before going to Spokane, Wash. for the Northwest Conference Championships, where they hope to sweep the championships for the third consecutive season. The race, held at Plante's Ferry Park in Spokane, will start at 10:00 a.m.
