McMINNVILLE, Ore. – The George Fox men's soccer team faced a tough matchup against NWC rival Linfield, giving up two goals against the WIldcats in Saturday's 2-0 loss.
How It Happened
The Bruins found themselves under attack right away, as the Wildcats got into scoring position early registering shots in the second and fourth minute.
Kellin Aguiar had a shot blocked in the 14th minute, and the Bruins failed to convert on two corner kicks in the 15th minute. Aguiar put a shot on goal in the 25th minute, but it was saved by Linfield keeper Colby Reese. Eight minutes later, the Wildcats put one past the Bruins' defense to take a 1-0 lead into halftime. Fox went into the break with just three shots compared to Linfield's eight, a sign of the field possession that the Wildcats imposed on GFU.
Linfield scored another goal just over ten minutes into the next period, scoring in the 58th minute and putting Fox in a 2-0 hole.
Santiago Munevar put a shot on goal in the 64th minute to respond, but Reese wrangled it in for a save. Fox would have just two more shots in the game, both unsuccessful. The Wildcats would end with 13 shots on the day, the Bruins with four.
