FOREST GROVE, Ore. -- The George Fox Bruins snapped their four-game losing streak in a big way, taking down the home Pacific Boxers in dominant fashion, 2-0.
How It Happened
The Bruin offense looked completely transformed following a shutout against Linfield the day prior. Just eight minutes into the game,
Laakeaikamalu Salvani scored his first collegiate goal off of an assist from
Joshua Chang to open up the scoring for the Bruins. Minutes later, though, the lead looked to be gone as soon as it came, with Salvani committing a foul in the box that led to a penalty.
Keoni Gavino made sure to keep Fox in the lead, saving his second penalty of the season by stopping Brodie Buchert's shot.
20 minutes after Fox's penalty save,
Kellin Aguiar had a chance to score a penalty of his own following a Boxer foul. The sophomore coolly stepped up and drilled the shot, giving Fox a 2-0 commanding 2-0 lead into halftime.Â
Though the Bruins were outshot in the second half, 8-5, Gavino, Salvani, and the rest of the back line were sure to bend, but never break. The Boxers' best chance to cut into the lead came in the 57th minute, where back-to-back shots bounced off of the crossbar, with the eventually corralled by the Bruins. Gavino would save one additional shot, but Fox held the ball in the final minutes to take home a 2-0 win.

Coach's Thoughts
"Today we found the grit that has been missing," said Bruin head coach

What It Means
