McMINNVILLE, Ore. – In a game where George Fox women's soccer struggled to get any offense, the defense did not allow a single shot on goal against the Linfield Wildcats as the game ended in a scoreless tie.
How It Happened
The Bruins spent a significant amount of time in Linfield territory in both halves but were unable to break through the back line of the Wildcats. In the first half
Alexis Breer and
Willa Evans each had shots on target that were saved by the Linfield keeper. The Wildcats had just one shot in the half, one blocked by the Bruins' defense. At the end of the half, both teams sat with nothing on the scoreboard — but the Bruins seemed poised to break through at some point.
The second half looked largely the same as the first half, with the Bruins living on the Wildcats side of the field, dominating both possession and opportunity but unable to put anything in the back of the net. The Bruins had a series of late-game chances at the goal, the closest coming with less than 20 seconds in the game, as
Becca Kozak found herself with a look at the net in the 89th minute, but the last shot of the day for the Bruins would be stopped, and the final whistle blew with the game still tied.
