TACOMA, Wash. -- Despite a great defensive effort by the George Fox women's soccer team, the Bruins fell short in their match against UPS, as late Logger goals in both halves handed Fox an 0-2 loss.
How It Happened
The Bruins began the first half with some key defensive plays, including two blocks early in the game to keep the Loggers scoreless. Though the Logger outshot the Bruins 8-4 in the first half, the Bruins defense held the front for most of the way, and though Fox put three of their four shots on target, it was the Loggers who were able to grab a 1-0 lead late in the first half.
The Fox defense once again kept the Bruins in the game for the second half, as goalie
Emily Robey recorded four more saves to keep the Loggers out of the goal. However, the Bruins offense was stifled by the Loggers, only recording two shots over the course of the half, neither of which found the goal. After a late goal by the Loggers put the Bruins behind by two, a deficit that would stay until the final horn as Fox fell, 0-2.
Top Performers
Liv Haima led the offensive effort for the Bruins, recording two shots, while
Taylor Ho and Alison Weber each attempted a shot as well. On defense, goalie
Emily Robey recorded five saves to keep the Bruins close.
