NEWBERG, Ore. — After a couple of early goals, the George Fox Women's Soccer Team was unable to finish a late comeback against the Pirates, falling 2-1 in their second to last game of the year.
How It Happened
The half began with a bang, as Whitworth got the scoring started within the first two minutes. After this though, the Bruins shut down the Pirates, allowing no more points and while getting off six shots of their own. Though none of them found the net, it kept the pressure on the Pirates, holding the score at 0-1 heading into the second half.
The second half started in a similar fashion, the Pirates finding the back of the net within the first two minutes. Down by two, the Bruins once again upped the aggression on offense, letting fly 11 shots before finally finding the back of the net with the clock winding down when a shot from
Alexis Breer hit home. Though now only down by one, the Bruins were unable to finish their comeback, finishing the game at a final score of 1-2.
