NEWBERG, Ore. -- The George Fox men's tennis team faced their third straight D-I opponent in the Seattle Redhawks on Saturday, falling in a spirited effort, 6-1.
How It Happened
The Bruins competed hard in their three doubles matches, dropping all three to lose the doubles points. The teams of
Vahag Pashayan and
Camden Camacho, as well as
Austin Stone and
Hunter Fujimori both lost in close 6-3 efforts.
For singles, Stone was the lone Bruin to pick up a point against the Redhawks, taking down Veselin Kiselkov in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2. Still other Bruins picked up sets against Seattle —
Hunter Fujimori lost in a close battle to his opponent on the sixes court, 2-6, 7-6, (5-10).
Lars Schmassmann, in his first game against his former team, finished with an eerily similar line to Fujimori, losing 6-2, 6-7, (5-10).Â
The Bruins left Saturday with a 6-1 loss but still have yet to face a Division II opponent this year.
What Comes Next
Fox returns to the court next Sunday to face their fourth consecutive Division I opponent in the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks. The match is scheduled for 11:00 am.
