NEWBERG, Ore. -- The George Fox men's tennis team returned to the court after a week off, sweeping Lewis & Clark, 9-0, in their first Northwest Conference matchup.
How It Happened
The Bruins were able to hold off the Pioneers in all three of their doubles matchups.
Camden Camacho and
Vahag Pashayan were able to win 8-4, while
Austin Stone and
Eli Mizerski won 8-5. The #3 doubles squad of
Lars Schmassmann and
Hunter Fujimori won by the same score, also at 8-5.
The winning continued as
Eli Mizerski was able to beat out Kristian Peev in the #1 singles match. In her first match in the number one position, Mizerski won in straight sets 6-2, 7-5. Mizerski wasn't the only one to win in straight sets, as
Vahag Pashayan won comfortably on court two, 6-2, 6-0, while
Austin Stone won court three, 6-1, 6-3. The Bruins were able to win each of their next three matchups to round out singles play.

Jeff Cero said, "The energy was solid from start to finish, and we're looking forward to a good match against Linfield tomorrow."
What It Means
The Bruins defended their home court to improve to a 4-3 record overall with a 1-0 mark in Northwest Conference play. The Pios fall to 1-8 on the season.

The Bruins have a short turnaround with a matchup tomorrow as they travel to McMinnville, Ore. to play the Linfield Wildcats. The match is scheduled to begin at 11:00 am.
