RADNOR, Pa. – The Bruins traveled just down the road from their Tuesday matchup to face off against Cabrini University, where the Bruins would see their first loss of the season and first regular season loss since 2020, falling 21-11.
How It Happened
Emma Webb tallied three saves in the first few minutes of the game before the Cavaliers put away their first goal. The Bruins would tie the game up at 1-1 less than ten seconds later with a goal from Carleigh DeLapp assisted by Kyra Barnes. That tie was short-lived, as the Cavaliers scored six seconds later, taking back their lead. Cabrini scored three more goals before Marena Tharpe scored with five minutes to play in the first quarter. The Cavaliers continued their hot start, and by the end of the period, the Bruins trailed, 9-2.
In the second period, there would be two goals in the opening minute of play, one for each team. Fox wouldn't allow a goal for nearly six minutes before Cabrini's Olivia Pace scored to make the score, 11-3. The Bruins would not go out without a fight, scoring three consecutive goals; Olivia Geyling, Lana Davis, and Barnes would all score, with Barnes and Geyling would score one more goal a piece to end the quarter. Fox outscored the Cavaliers 6-3 in the quarter but still trailed, 12-8.
Heading into the second half, Fox would cut the lead to just three goals after DeLapp scored two minutes into the half. It wasn't until under four minutes remaining in the period that the Bruins scored another goal. That goal came when Webb saved the Cavalier's shot leading to another goal from Barnes, her third of the game. The third period would end with the Bruins trailing, 17-10.
The Cavilers outscored the Bruins 4-1 in the final quarter. The only goal for Fox in the fourth quarter came from Ava Bluhm, ending the game with a loss, 21-11.
Top Performances
Kyra Barnes had her second hat trick of the week and two assists on the day. Three additional Bruins were able to score two goals apiece.
What It Means
Fox fall to a record of 11-1 on the season(8-0 in NWC play). The Cavilers improve to 5-4 on the year.
