FOREST GROVE, Ore. — Fresh off a non-conference loss, the Bruins bounced back nicely with a 19-4 conference win over Pacific.
How It Happened
The Bruins came out hot right from the get go, outscoring the Boxers by eight and taking a 9-1 lead in the first quarter. Less than two minutes into the game,
Ava Bluhm scored the first goal with an assist from
Lyla Roy. From there, the Bruins scored eight more times, not letting more than three minutes pass during the quarter without scoring a goal until the end of the quarter.
Though not quite as high scoring, the Bruins continued to pile onto their lead in the second quarter, resulting in a 4-1 tally for the quarter. The Bruins extended their lead heading into the second half, 13-2.
Though the Bruins only scored three points in the third quarter, their defense shut out the Boxers, adding three more goals to the scoreboard in favor of the Bruins. The scoring was evenly distributed, with one goal coming at the 13 minute mark, one at the seven minute mark, and one at the two minute mark. This continued increase in the deficit kept the momentum with the Bruins, and put the Boxers into a 16-2 hole heading into the final quarter.
The scoring in the fourth was on the two ends of the quarter, with one at 13 minutes once again and then two inside of four minutes at the end. Though the Boxers were able to put up two, the lead for the Bruins was more than sufficient, giving them a 19-4 win to keep them undefeated in conference play.
