NEWBERG, Ore. — The George Fox women's lacrosse dominated their Saturday afternoon game against Linfield from the get-go, winning convincingly in their 19-3 victory over Linfield.
How it Happened:
Before fans had settled into their seats, the Bruins were already up 2-0 — with
Carleigh DeLapp scoring 12 seconds into the game and
Lana Davis scoring another one minute later. DeLapp would go on to score twice more in the period as the Bruins outshot the Wildcats 10-1 in the first to take a 7-0 lead.
Fox extended their lead to 13-0 at the half, their second-largest halftime advantage of the season. The Bruin defense kept goalie
Emma Webb comfortable in the first half, allowing just three shots on goal through 30 minutes and forcing 13 turnovers. On the attacking side,
Ana Flores and
Sasha Thayer led the way with two goals apiece in the quarter.
Davis,
Marena Tharpe, and
Ava Bluhm all found the back of the net in the third quarter as Fox's lead grew to 15. The Bruins would concede just three goals in the entire second half, all from Wildcat Gabby Crist, as Fox finished the afternoon with a comfortable 19-3 victory. As a team, the Bruins outshot the Wildcats 29-11, with 28 of Fox's goals coming on target.
Top Performances
Once again, it was a balanced attack from the Fox offense, with six players recording three or more points.
Carleigh DeLapp and
Ava Bluhm each finished the day with four goals and two assists, while
Kyra Barnes impressed with four assists. Barnes also won eight draw controls on the day, while
Marena Tharpe finished with six ground balls.

Fox wins their 72nd consecutive conference game, improving to 13-1 on the season (10-0 NWC). Linfield falls to 2-9 (2-7 NWC) on the season.
