NEWBERG, Ore. -- After a week away, the George Fox men's tennis team returned to conference play, remaining undefeated in NWC play on Saturday with another win, sweeping Puget Sound, 9-0.
How It Happened
The Bruins swept the doubles matches, starting with a win from the newly #1 regionally-ranked duo of
Vahag Pashayan and
Camden Camacho, 8-0. The team of
Hunter Fujimori and
Lars Schmassmann had a closer match but were still able to take the win, 8-5. On court three, partners
Alle Banna and Jackson Whitaker won, 8-2.
Heading into singles, Fox was able to continue its success from doubles. On court one,
Eli Mizerski quickly won his match, 6-0, 6-0. Mizerski was ranked for the first time in his young career earlier this week, sitting at #15 in singles in the West region.
Lars Schamassmann and
Hunter Fujimori both won by the score of, 6-0, 6-1, while
Camden Camacho won, 6-1, 6-0. The Bruins would see the other two final matches ending in a win after
Vahag Pashayan, 6-2, 6-0, and Isa Jonah, 6-1, 6-2, and both came out with the win. Three other Bruins would see themselves only dropping one game in each match.
Coach's Thoughts
"I thought we played well once we got going," Bruin head coach
Jeff Cero said, "Looking at this stretch of matches coming up, starting well and handling the moment will help us a lot."
What It Means
The #26-ranked Bruins improve to a 6-9 record overall with a 3-0 mark in Northwest Conference play, while the Loggers fall to a 4-5 overall record and 2-2 in NWC on the season.

The Bruins make the trip to the Whits next week when they will take on Whitman on Friday at 4:00 pm and Whitworth on Saturday at 11:00 am.
