Bruins Capture Third Straight Regular Season Title With Win at Willamette

SALEM, Ore. -- The George Fox men's tennis team successfully defended their Northwest Conference regular season title with a 9-0 win against the Willamette Bearcats on Sunday, setting the stage to host the conference tournament

How It Happened
The top-rated doubles team of Camden Camacho and Vahag Pashayan won their matchup, 8-2. The Bruin duo of Austin Stone and Eli Mizerski grabbed a win against their opponent, 8-3. Alle Banna and Jackson Whittaker won their match to round out doubles play, 8-1, completing the doubles sweep for Fox.

It would look the same for singles play, as the Bruins would sweep all of the next six matches. Multiple Bruins dominated their matchups, not allowing a single game to the Bearcats. Both Austin Stone and Alle Banna would win their matches, 6-0.  Freshman Eli Mizerski also easily won his match, 6-1, 6-0, with Jonah Isa winnning his match by a similar scoreline, 6-0, 6-1.

To round out the day, Vahag Pashayan and Jackson Whittaker would win their matches, 6-1, 6-2, and 6-2, 6-0. The sweep of the Bearcats would allow the Bruins to clinch their third consecutive NWC title with a perfect record of 7-0.

Coach's Thoughts
"Proud of the guys for winning the regular season title," Bruin head coach Jeff Cero said, "Now the hard work really begins for us. We want to win our conference tournament. Looking forward to this next week with the team."

What It Means
The Bruins improve to a 10-9 record overall with a perfect 7-0 mark in Northwest Conference play, while the Bearcats fall to a 0-12 overall record and 0-7 mark in NWC on the season.

What Comes Next
The Bruins return home to host the NWC conference tournament at the Multi-Use Facility next weekend. Fox will host the top four teams in the conference, with matches set to start at 10:00 am and 2:00 p.m.
