SPOKANE, Wash. — George Fox baseball, coming off of an eventful doubleheader the day before, pulled out a 5-1 win after a four run 13th inning against the Whitworth Pirates.
How It Happened
Both teams' starting pitchers were locked down in the game, with Bruins' starter
Ben Wills pitching a phenomenal game, throwing eight innings while striking out six. He allowed just one run in the first inning, which came on a fielder's choice.
The Bruins' bats took a while to start up, as they stranded several runners throughout the game. Finally, in the seventh inning
Jared Miller hit an RBI single to center that scored
Brandon King and tied the game at one. After a scoreless eighth and ninth, the Bruins found themselves looking at another set of extra innings.

Ryder Edwards sat the Pirates down 1-2-3, as he would for all of the innings he pitched.
The Bruins suffered two more scoreless innings, leaving two runners on base across the two. Heading into the top of the 13th inning, Edwards had kept them in the game, throwing two more no-hit innings.
The Bruins' got things going big time in the 13th, scoring a massive four runs. The scoring started with another Miller single, picking up his second RBI of the day.
Jared Gee kept things going with a sacrifice fly, then
Breyndon Nakamura singled to score the third run of the inning. Miller scored on a wild pitch, ballooning the lead to 5-1. Edwards once again sat the Pirates down 1-2-3, and the Bruins won the game 5-1.

Ben Wills and
Ryder Edwards combined for the pitching performance of the year for the Bruins, Wills threw eight innings, allowing just one run and striking out six, while Edwards threw five innings of scoreless baseball, and struck out six as well.
Jared Miller had the two biggest swings of the day, hitting the tying and go-ahead RBI singles.
