LA VERNE, Calif. — The George Fox men's soccer team picked up their first win of the year on Sunday, emerging victorious over La Verne with a final score of 2-1.
How It Happened
The first half saw a series of close calls for both teams. Bruins forward
Santiago Munevar had a shot that sailed just over the top of the goalpost, and later,
Robert Rodarte's attempt was saved by Leopards goalkeeper Logan Reese. The Leopards had their share of opportunities as well, with Angel Loza and Mario Urbina testing
Keoni Gavino, but the Fox goalie was up to the task, making crucial saves to keep his team in the game.
The second half began with a bang as the Bruins were awarded a penalty kick.
Eugene Peltier stepped up to the spot and confidently slotted the ball into the back of the net, giving Fox the lead.
The Leopards responded with efforts that paid off in the 66th minute, when Oscar Mendoza scored a goal assisted by Adan Villarreal, equalizing the score at 1-1.

Kellin Aguiar capitalized on a penalty kick opportunity, putting his team ahead 2-1. La Verne's Logan Reese managed to save the initial penalty, but Aguiar followed up with a quick strike into the net, securing the win for the Bruins.
