INDEPENDENCE, Ore. -- The George Fox cross country team traveled south for the Oak Knoll Loop Run, treating the race much like a practice session as both their men's and women's teams placed third.
Top Performances
In the men's 8K race,
Gavin Grass secured the top spot with a swift time of 25:48.0, followed closely by
Patrick Adkisson, who finished in 26:02.5, and
Kellen Ruiz, who crossed the line in 26:13.8.
Aidan Arthur completed the race in 26:17.5, with
Benjamin Bourne at 26:38.7 and
Trevor Wilber at 26:51.1, contributing to their team's success.
In the women's 6K competition,
Kayla Aalpoel dominated in her first race of the season, clocking an impressive time of 21:51.1 to secure first place over D-I athletes from Portland and Portland State.
Ellie Rising finished in 22:16.7 moving up 15 spots in the last mile to finish fifth overall, while
Brenna Sclair recorded a time of 22:53.9, placing them both in the top five.Â
Breanna Schmitt posted a time of 23:02.6,
Kendall McKibbon in 23:22.3, and
Hope Bridge in 23:40.0, rounding out the top six with consistent and commendable performances.
Coach's Thoughts
Solid day for us today," Bruin head coach
Mike Wilson said," Kayla rocked it today, and the women looked strong without putting our whole squad out there and while working out. Men looked decent and we got a good experience for our newer runners."
